Knew that they'd suffered a fire but didn't know Steve Perez was injured. Glad to hear he's on the road to recovery, hope it's a full one!
Recovering watching the football
The basic story is that during refuelling there was a splash or a spillage of fuel that ignited on the hot exhaust. The Co driver managed escape where Steve bore the brunt of the ensuing fireball.
The car damage is largely cosmetic and Steve was the main concern.
As we can see from his post on FB the other night and the Lancia_Stratos post on Instagram he is now on the road to recovery which is excellent news for all concerned.
We all know Steve Perez and appreciate him as well
I had the pleasure to meet him in last Costa Brava rally...
All thoughts and best wishes for his recovery
Please any fellows and friends take care and be safe especially during rally...Old and classic cars are great but potentially more dangerous than more recent ones!
Remember the original has a hot exhaust running near the right hand tank.
The Stratos returns (Malton Rally in Nov.):
BBC Look North did a feature on Seb/Steve Perez and the Stratos yesterday.
It's on the SEC Facebook page now.
The 5 day Roger Albert Clark starts tomorrow (Thursday 23rd November) and finishes on Monday 27th November. Scrutineering today (Wednesday).
RAC 2023 Route
RAC 2023 entry list
Looks like spectators are going to see a lot of Ford Escorts....
16 scheduled live coverage videos already set up for this rally on youtube.
Can we see the rest of that entry list Chris?
Tim Tyrer and Ralph Whitby.
Just trying to remember if that was the year they entered in a Mazda RX3 or if they were still in the Mk1 Twincam.
Thanks Chris.
I seem to remember this was the first ever entry of a rotary engined car on the RAC.
I used to work for Tim at weekends and holidays at his narrowboat hire business while I was still at school!
There was always loads of car related stuff going on at Bartington Wharf, including restoration of a Connaught F1 car. Tim was responsible for my interest in both cars and canal boats and has therefore cost me a piggin' fortune throughout my life!!
Looks like great line up of entrants (172) Me and Neil B are Planning a Str trip out day Friday going SS 9 And SS 12, if anyone else is there
Stage 5 live
The Stratos is lying 4th overall.
Stratos at 1:15, now that they've got the HT lead sorted
and...
William Woollard, no really!
SS9
Brilliant day Friday 322 mile round trip Seb was going well in stage 9
it was well worth it just to hear the raw sound of that stratos coming through the forest

Brilliant day with Dave & Phil. I got so excited at this point I forgot to film and ended with 30secs of my knee. What Dave hasn?t told you is the car park was full and closed, we got let in at Myherin and guided towards stage start as Marshalls thought we were competitors.
Neil. Did you put lots of stickers on your car?
I added a couple but think it was Dave?s that fooled the Marshalls

The Stratos is now 2nd overall after 4 days.
One day to go.
Just seen Oli Solberg has suffered a broken driveshaft and is out….
Guy
SS29 says Solberg Escort is 'off road'
Seb still 2nd
Seb running with gearbox/diff noises, starter problem too. Solberg out. McCourt 19s behind Perez after SS29.
It's all happening. Ben Friend and Barry McKenna out now.
'Last stage today is 38miles!! Driven axle tyres will wear out.
The significance of the final stage is that it's the longest one Steve, 38 miles of loose surface where tyres are scrabbling for grip and having chunks ripped off them by sharp gravel. The Stratos has an advantage over the Escorts here as there is more weight over the driven wheels creating better bite and, hopefully, less wear. But a puncture for any of the leaders is possible and could change the whole leaderboard.

The Stratos has stopped!
8 miles from the end... Such a great effort, come back the year after next...
Oh no what a bad luck so close of the end with a fantastic result:(
Such an amazing drive and performance !
I remember the night stages in Costa brava mountains behind Steve in 2018 few months before his accident and was stunned by the sound of the engine but now since recent rebuild the Stratos is simply a blast !!
