Re: New Tyres from Kwik Fit
I recently needed 2 front tyres at fairly short notice for my McLaren and my local Kwik Fit not only were much cheaper than anywhere else but bent over backwards to order them including all the available discounts and supply only without fitting and get them to me before actually taking any payment. I was really impressed. Similarly a couple of months ago I dropped off a tyre for a puncture repair and when I went to collect it and asked how much it was they said they didn?t charge for simple repairs. Dunno if I?ve just got a great local branch or if that?s policy.

Excellent service for you, but I am not going to drive all that way
Re: New Tyres from Kwik Fit
Maybe makes a difference if you are a Scotsman with cool cars Jim? They did start off north of the border didn't they?
Re: New Tyres from Kwik Fit
Yes, started in Edinburgh.
I am sure in regard to price it is all down to who is doing the best discount on the day but the difference was over ?100 per tyre. Obviously I'm not a good Scotsman because I gave the guy who fixed my puncture ?20 anyhow. Do agree tho that its probably not a worthwhile journey to Forfar. ;)

Toofar to Forfar- before Norm says it

Re: New Tyres from Kwik Fit
I always look at Camskill Tyres when choosing a new tyre or buying a replacement. It's mail order so you need a tame local fitter (not all will fit another suppliers tyres) but have found Camskill's site excellent for choosing a tyre based on size as the website offers all makes and ranks them by wet grip, dry grip and noise with prices/availablity/delivery timescales obvious. Highly recommended.
Re: New Tyres from Kwik Fit
Well Kwik Fit customer services replied saying they needed to know that they could accommodate the vehicle to change the tyres, in case I arrived in an artic. Why I would want 225/45 R16 on an artic eludes me.
They offered ?30 in vouchers for the inconvenience.
I wish they would fix their website so it has all cars, accept manual entry or allow the popup to be bypassed with some sort of disclaimer about vehicle size.
Re: New Tyres from Kwik Fit
Plus 1 for Camskill. I think it was Robin who put me on to them. No nonsense and I've found if you take an interesting set of wheels to most tyre fitting places they fall over themselves to help.
Re: New Tyres from Kwik Fit
Have you tried Demon Tweeks? They used to be pricey but I've found their tyre prices to be quite competitive lately, eg. Toyo Proxes R888Rs are ?116 in 225/45-R16 size, Yoko AO52s are ?172.

The last time I ordered tyres from DT it turned out that they did not have them in stock, did not know when they could get them or even guarantee if they could get them so they just sent a refund.
The same tyres that they couldn't get are still listed on the website now.
Re: New Tyres from Kwik Fit
Take a look at Nankang, the sizes are there if you Google, might have to have a slightly different tread pattern front to back, they are at very reasonable prices, but really depends on choice and what you intend to do on them.
