Yeah, I know it's the NEC itself that sets the car park prices, but I was on a rant and saw no reason to rein it in

However, I have been to "trade"-type events (IT related things) where the parking was free. I suppose the NEC charge more in that case to hire the halls.

One year I went there for the Classic show and there was some other event on with free parking, so I parked in their area and, er,....well I'd be daft to do otherwise And, it used to be much cheaper to park in the train station car park, and just walk across the bridge to the show - but now they charge the same so no advantage there any more. Gits.
